I really can’t stand what Trans Activism has done to people. It’s depressing. It’s regressive. It’s insulting. I’m sick of feeling like the bad guy for simply acknowledging the existence of sex based oppression and wanting better for myself. I hate feeling the need to water down my feminism just so someone doesn’t get their feelings hurt.
Before I found a community of radical feminists, I was a victim of the same shit. Yet, TRAs will constantly tell me I lack an understanding of who they are and what they fight for, but if I dare to ask a question as innocent as something like “why do you think trans women are women?”, I am a hateful fascist in their eyes.
I know that I’m an insightful and open-minded person, but no matter how hard I try to be tolerant towards them, I simply can’t justify their behavior.
What makes matters worse is when I see other feminists on certain corners of the internet (cough cough, TikTok) claiming to be gender abolitionists while demonizing “TERFs” in the same breath. Not to mention the self proclaimed “ex-TERFs”. It makes me feel like something is wrong with me; like there is some light bulb moment they have experienced that I’m incapable of grasping no matter how hard I try. How can you use a word that is literally used to silence and ridicule people with ideas no different than yours? Can’t you see that we are on your side? It’s just cowardly and hypocritical.
I am still learning to trust myself in a world whose mission it seems is to gaslight me into denying the truth and bully me into selling myself short. But, at the end of the day, I will never betray women by letting these gender ideologist types take even an inch of my power away. Neither should you.
